Corporate Strategic Plan

Our Corporate Strategic Plan defines our vision of success for the next five years based on the needs, values, and aspirations of everyone in the community. It also provides Council and staff with a roadmap for future decision-making to helps us prioritize key programs, services, and initiatives.

Mission

To provide appropriate and efficient services and programs to the residents of the Municipality of South Bruce that will enhance the quality of life, provide a safe and desirable environment to work and raise their families.

Vision

South Bruce is a growing, dynamic, agriculturally rooted community that provides accessible and affordable amenities for residents and businesses, creating an environment supportive of growth, vibrant downtowns that foster small business, and a unique, year-round destination experience.

What we value

Our key principles define what we value within the Municipality. They include:

  • Reliability and stewardship
  • Healthy and safe living

Key priorities

We have identified seven key priorities to give direction to our Strategic Plan. We conducted community engagement and primary research to ensure our priorities were based on the needs of all community members. 

We plan to fill our industrial and business parks, increase business incentives, and support smaller businesses.

We recognize the need for a dedicate economic development officer and economic development function to create a successful economic development plan for our community.

Our focus for tourism is to grow and develop niche opportunities such as agri-tourism and cultural and heritage tourism. We also plan to attract and retain youth by increasing recreation and entertainment options within the community.

We plan to prioritize long-range planning and community revival. Actions include updating main streets, re-developing downtown area, and preventing ‘red-tape” development.

We are committed to developing our seniors’ housing and services so that we can provide for the needs of our community through improved support and critical care options.

Our priority is to redefine our political structure by creating a municipality that is supported by a strong Council vision and led by open-minded leaders. This will include equal representation on Council and help us remove restricting growth in our organization.

We plan to foster unity with our citizens and stakeholders of the community by working more cooperatively within our own community and surrounding areas. This progressive approach will help us connect with our community more equally.

Action plan

A detailed action plan for each of these five goals will provide direction for our community. It will help us set performance measurements and ensure that our vision and mission are accomplished.

These five goals will help us develop and implement the Corporate Strategic Plan:

  1. Create a strong corporate climate that supports local business growth and sustainability
  2. Create and promote a culture that practices clear communication, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability
  3. Secure the fiscal capacity necessary to develop and maintain infrastructure improvements that address bridge replacements, road resurfacing, and drainage concerns
  4. Create a strong corporate environment that supports retention and succession planning for municipal staff

Support existing and new opportunities to attract new residents and retain young adults and senior populations
