Falconer Bridge Completed

The Municipality of South Bruce invested $711,065 to replace the Falconer Bridge on Concession 2, Culross.  The original Structure was a Cast-in-Place Concrete rigid frame that was built in 1940.  It has been replaced with a Precast Concrete Barefoot Box Culvert Structure.

The 2020 Bridge Inspection Report noted that given the high rehabilitation costs in comparison to replacement costs, the vintage, narrow width, the small size of the structure and the condition of the key structural elements, replacement of the structure was recommended as soon as possible.

The replacement of the bridge was completed in 2023 with contributions of $372,500 coming from the Canada Community-Building Fund.  The completed structure will be able to accommodate larger, heavier vehicles and to better accommodate 2 lane traffic flow.
