SOUTH BRUCE, ON – On May 15th, the Municipality of South Bruce hosted the 2nd Nuclear Exploration Forum in Mildmay to support community members wanting learn more about the Nuclear Waste Management Organization Project (NWMO).

The free, in-person event featured two panels: Safety Put Simply, and Let’s Talk Hosting Agreement and Guiding Principles. Each panel featured remarks and presentations from speakers, followed by a community question and answer period.

The Forum also featured an exhibitor area on the arena floor for community members to engage with subject matter experts from various organizations, including the NWMO, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Ontario Power Generation, and others. Additional information regarding panel presentations and the exhibitors is available in the Forum backgrounder.

“It’s important to provide opportunities for our community to ask questions and learn about the Project from experts,” said Mayor Mark Goetz. “The Forum and other municipal events are key for community members to be confident and informed when they cast their vote in the October referendum.”

Responses to questions gathered during the question period will be published on the Municipal website at www.southbruce.ca/Forum.

Individuals or groups in the community who are interested in learning more about South Bruce’s participation in the NWMO Project site selection process are encouraged to book a Let’s Talk DGR session with municipal staff at www.southbruce.ca/LetsTalkDGR.
