Flushing Sanitary Sewer System in Formosa

To: Formosa Residents on Bruce Road 12 & Council Road

On Wednesday April 7th from approximately 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm a contractor will be completing flushing of the Sanitary Sewer System in Formosa.

Typically there would be no impact to the residents during this flushing process. However, because odors have occurred within homes following Sewer Flushing previously, The Municipality and Veolia wanted to make residents aware of this planned maintenance.

These odors can occur after the Sewer Flushing process due to a vacuum being created within the sewer system. This can pull the water from the “P” traps in a residents’ plumbing. This water in the “P” traps would normally prevent odors from coming back into a home.

If an odor is noticed within your home following the flushing please run water to all drains (tubs, sinks etc.) to refill the “P” traps.
