The vacancy was created due to the resignation of a Councillor for the Mildmay Carrick Ward Councillor within the Municipality of South Bruce.
At the February 7, 2023 special Council meeting, Council declared one (1) Councillor position vacant as required by the Municipal Act, 2001. Further to Staff Report CAO/Clerk-02-02-2023, considered by Council at its regular meeting held February 14, 2023 Council opted to proceed with the option to fill the vacancy by inviting applications from any interested qualified elector and further approved the procedure contained within the report on how the candidates will be interviewed and the successful candidate appointed.

For applicants wishing to apply, below is the Notice and the Information Package. It is important to read the "Procedure - Appointment to a Vacant Council Position", which is included in the Information Package, to ensure you meet the nomination requirements. In accordance with that procedure, Statements that do not meet the requirements shall not be included in any Council meeting agenda or provided to Council by the Clerk.

The Municipality of South Bruce is conducting Municipal and School Board Elections on October 24, 2022. The 2022 Election will occur by internet and telephone vote. The voting period will be open from Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 24, 2022 (Election Day) at 8:00 p.m.

Anyone can vote in a municipal election who, on the day of the election, is:
Your name must be on the Voters’ List in order for you to cast a ballot and it is your responsibilty to ensure your name appears on the list. You may call or attend the municipal office during regular business hours or attend a Voter Assistance Center during it's hours of operation to confirm you are on the Voter's List.
How can you be added to the Voter's List?If you are not on the Voters’ List you must attend in person with acceptable identification and complete an EL15 form at the Municipal office or a Voter Assistance Center during hours of operation or at the following locations:

You may have your name added to the Voters’ List at the Municipal Office or either Voter Assistance Centers. However, we encourage you to do so prior to the voting day.

Teewater) during regular business hours (Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm) or attend a Voter Assistance Center during it's hours of operation to confirm you are on the Voter's List. If you are on the voter's list, you will receive a voter information letter in the mail. This letter will provide you with instructions on how to vote. You will require the information in the letter to vote by telephone or by internet. When you receive your letter, keep it safe, secure and private. If you require assistance, you can contact our Voter Help Desk, during regular business hours, by telephone at 519-392-6623 or by email to election@southbruce.ca. Voter Assistance Centres will also be set up at the Municipal Office in Teeswater and the Fire Station in Mildmay.

Who can be a candidate?
In municipal elections, candidates are not elected to represent a political party such as Federal or Provincial elections.
Each Candidate must file two (2) forms: *Form 1 and Form 2 Electronic fillable forms are also available.
How do I file my Nomination papers?To file your nomination papers, please book an appointment with the Clerk. Appointments can be booked by calling the Municipal office at 519-392-6623.
To file Nomination papers, you must register with the Clerk's office by 2:00 p.m. on August 19, 2022.
Withdrawal or Change of office must be completed by 2:00 p.m. on August 19, 2022
