Council Determines Community Liaison Committee Members and Opens Search for Two Additional Members
SOUTH BRUCE, ON – Tuesday November 21st the Municipality of South Bruce Council held their first meeting since being sworn in on November 15th. Deputy Mayor Mike McDonagh and Jeff Goetz are the councillors that will join ex-officio Mayor Mark Goetz on the Community Liaison Committee (CLC).
Council decided to re-elect Jim Gowland, Doug Culbert, George Miller, Justin McKague, Les Nichols, Alli Meyer and Kaylee Rich to the CLC. Following the appointment of the committee the council passed a motion to begin the search for two additional members to join the CLC.
The CLC is an important committee that gives the community representatives opportunities to have input into project decisions, receive educational presentations and provide timely feedback. CLC members are volunteers who have a passion for our community and believe that we will only be able to make an informed decision if we have access to all of the facts available.
More information on the CLC can be found on the Committees of Council page of the Municipal website. Interested individuals should submit an expression of interest by December 19th. To apply, please check out our page here: Community Liaison Committee Application

South Bruce is one of two remaining communities that the Nuclear Waste Management Organization is considering for the site of a deep geological repository for Canada’s used nuclear fuel, a Centre of Expertise and many supporting facilities. The Municipality of South Bruce is working towards an informed decision for the community through the South Bruce Nuclear Exploration Project team, the Community Liaison Committee, and independent reviews to determine if the site is safe for people and the environment, offers positive benefits and if the community is willing to host the site.
