SOUTH BRUCE, ON – South Bruce Council confirmed new municipal branding at its meeting March 12th. The new South Bruce branding includes a municipal logo, community logos for the villages of Mildmay, Teeswater and Formosa, and community taglines.
The branding exercise began in August 2023; consulting company Cinnamon Toast was hired by the Municipality to facilitate the community branding engagement and design proposals.
Formosa now meets the infrastructure requirements to be eligible for a brand toolkit which will also make the village eligible for grants. The Municipality rebranded to include Formosa, create equal grant opportunities for South Bruce businesses, and to foster community cohesiveness.
The consultant conducted community engagement sessions including surveys and open houses to capture residents’ vision for the brand.
Residents’ input highlighted that South Bruce is a tight-knit, friendly, family-oriented community that prides itself on its agricultural roots and the hard-working nature of its residents. Opportunities for all, open spaces, looking to the future and collaborative care were additional themes gathered from these discussions.
Results of the engagement sessions informed the three design concepts that were presented to Council in January 2024. A community vote was then held from January 24th – February 29th to determine South Bruce’s brand from the three proposed concepts. 226 votes were submitted during the voting period resulting in design concept A (pictured) being selected.
The South Bruce logo is composed of three shapes, each representing a South Bruce community. The three unique community logos combine to form the Municipal logo which represents South Bruce’s overall culture. Implementing a fresh new brand that best represents the community for today and for the future, will align the municipality with its Corporate Strategic and Economic Development Plans that were completed in 2021 and give a competitive edge for growth opportunities.
In addition to new logos, South Bruce residents also voted for new taglines for Formosa, Mildmay, Teeswater and the Municipality as a whole. The new taglines are:
“I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to update our brand to reflect our community and our culture going forward,” said Mayor Mark Goetz. “Individual brands for Formosa, Mildmay, and Teeswater effectively represents each community and aligns to form the South Bruce Municipal logo, which shows the unity we are striving to build within our community.”
With South Bruce branding being finalized, the Municipality looks forward to updating Façade Guideline Toolkits and Brand Guidelines towards the end of March, which will expand the financial grants available within South Bruce.
