TAKE NOTICE THAT the Municipality of South Bruce Council intends to appoint an individual to fill the vacant Council seat.
Following the decision of Council, the Municipality of South Bruce is now accepting applications to fill one (1) vacant Councillor position for the Mildmay Carrick Ward Councillor Position for the remainder of the 2022 – 2026 term of Council.
If you are interested in applying, information packages, including the procedure, are available on the elections page on the Municipal website or by contacting the Municipal Clerk or Deputy Clerk at election@southbruce.ca. The vacant Councillor position will be filled by appointment and as a result, no formal election or public vote will be conducted.
All applicants must be a qualified elector as defined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and must be:

A special Council Appointment Meeting of Council will be held March 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. to select a candidate to fill the current vacancy.
Background Information
The vacancy was created due to the resignation of a Councillor for the Mildmay Carrick Ward Councillor within the Municipality of South Bruce.
At the February 7, 2023 special Council meeting, Council declared one (1) Councillor position vacant as required by the Municipal Act, 2001. Further to Staff Report CAO/Clerk -02-02-2023, considered by Council at its regular meeting held February 14, 2023 Council opted to proceed with the option to fill the vacancy by inviting applications from any interested qualified elector and further approved the procedure contained within the report on how the candidates will be interviewed and the successful candidate appointed.
