Are you planning to burn brush or have a controlled open-air burn on your property? Before you do, you need to ensure that you are registered with a burn permit and call us every time.
You need to apply once for a burn permit for your property if you plan to burn brush or have a controlled open-air burn. If you already have a burn permit, you do not need to apply again. The permit will stay with the property that it is registered with.
Please note that you do not need a burn permit for firepits or campfires.
If you have any questions about burn permits, contact the Municipal Office or call 519-392-6623.
There will be a one-time $35 fee for a burn permit. This includes the cost of your first burn of 14 consecutive days.
After the first initial burn, you need to contact us before you plan to have another controlled open-air burn. If you plan on burning on the weekend, you must call us before 4:00 p.m. on the Friday.
It is important for you to call us so we can notify the fire department and avoid unnecessary dispatch of our firefighters. This will also save you from paying an invoice for this service.
There will be a $10 fee every time you request to burn. This fee provides you with 14 consecutive days of open air burning on your property.
